MathPhysDays

“MathPhysDays” is a workshop taking place in Erlangen from July 14 to 16, 2022, on the occasion of Andreas Knauf’s last days “on duty” as part of the teaching body of the Department Mathematik at the FAU. The schedule below shows that there will be many interesting talks, but moreover there will be plenty of time for scientific and personal exchange.

All lectures will take place in room H12 of the Department, Cauerstrasse 11 in Erlangen.

July 14:

14:00 Welcome

14:30 Marcello Seri (Groningen) “Geometric integration in celestial mechanics with the contact glasses”

15:30 Coffee break

16:00 Nihat Ay (TU Hamburg)

17:00 Karl Friedrich Siburg (Dortmund) “Back to the roots – collisions in celestial mechanics”

18:00 Contribution of the students (FSI)

Right after: Reception and gathering in a reserved portion of the nearby Cafeteria. All members of the Department including all students (Bachelor and Master) are welcome, but a registration by Email to Frau Moch a week before is required.

July 15:

10:00 Fabio Benatti (Trieste) “Asymptotic transport properties in open quantum spin chains”

11:00 Volker Bach (Braunschweig)

12:00 Lunch in the nearby Mensa

13:30 Gerhard Knieper (Bochum)

14:30 Martin Schmidt (Mannheim)

15:30 Coffee break

16:00 Nicolay Martynchuk (Groningen)

17:00 Mirko Degli Esposti (Bologna) “Long Range Correlations in Human Interactions: the Knauf-Degli Esposti model”

19:00 Dinner in  restaurant Palmyra downtown Erlangen (Einhornstraße 9, 91054 Erlangen)

July 16: Surprise social event until early afternoon. We meet at 10 a.m. in front of  the youth hostel at the castle in Nürnberg (Jugendherberge, Burg 2). To get there

  • take the train S1 or the train RE in the direction of Nürnberg (takes about 20 minutes, every 30 minutes)
  • get off at Nürnberg central station (Nürnberg Hbf)
  • walk from there to the castle (pleasant walk, about 20 minutes) – directions

For further questions, please contact the local organizing team Catherine Meusburger, Karl-Hermann Neeb and Hermann Schulz-Baldes
