Tensor networks in two-dimensional topological order and operator algebras

Abstract: Certain 4-tensors appear in mathematical studies of 2-dimensional

topological order recently. We identify them with bi-unitary connections

that appear in subfactor theory in operator algebras and are variants of

quantum 6j-symbols. We then translate various notions in the two studies

in both directions and have deeper understanding of their mathematical

structures.
