Information for pupils and prospective students

Information for students and prospective students

Under the heading Current Students you will find detailed information on the courses of study offered by the Department of Mathematics. Brief information can be found in our information brochures.

Advisory Services for Schools and prospective students

Before studying the following questions are frequently asked:

  • Am I suitable for studying mathematics?
  • Which study programmes are available at the Department of Mathematics?
  • Which questions are dealt with in final theses?
  • What career opportunities do I have with a degree in mathematics?

In order to answer these and similar questions from students, we (currently the professors are F. Duzaar, F. Liers,  G. Keller, A. Knauf, A. Martin  and C. Meusburger) offer a visit to schools in the region. A 45-minutes or 90-minutes lesson is planned. In the second case, in addition to providing information and answering questions, there will be time for a lecture that will provide an insight into current research.

Orientation Week Mathematics und Data Science / Physics

In the week before the start of lectures in the winter semester, an orientation week is offered for all first-year students of the mathematics programs as well as Data Science and Physics, which we strongly recommend each and every “new student” to attend. All necessary information can be found here.

further information

Further information on the courses of study offered at the FAU and orientation aids for prospective students can be obtained from the FAU’s general student advisory service, the IBZ.
