Teaching Degree Programmes
At the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Friedrich-Alexander-University it is possible to study mathematics for the teaching positions at high schools (in-depth studies) and at primary and secondary schools (not in-depth studies).
Training for the teaching profession at primary and secondary schools is organised by the Faculty of Philosophy (Phil) in Nuremberg, Regensburger Str. 160. The courses for the teaching degree programmes at grammar schools are held in Erlangen, while the majority of the courses for the teaching degree programmes at secondary schools are held in Nuremberg, Regensburger Str. 160.
Within the framework of all four teacher training courses, a Bachelor’s degree is also acquired from the beginning of the course in winter semester 2007/08. The first year of study for the teaching profession at grammar schools includes the same compulsory mathematical modules as for the three Bachelor’s programmes in mathematics, namely Analysis and Linear Algebra, so that – with a suitable second subject – a change to one of these Bachelor’s programmes is possible at the end of the first academic year.
